Perfect for wildlife, sports, travel and more, the RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM is a compact, lightweight telephoto lens for EOS R Series cameras, offering a versatile zoom range that brings subjects closer with ease. The RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM is similar in size to the EF 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 IS II USM lens, and not only reaches to 400mm, but also has fast Nano USM focusing and up to 6 stops of Coordinated IS when used in combination with an EOS R series camera featuring In-body Image Stabilization, like the EOS R5 and EOS R6, or 5.5 stops with an EOS R/RP camera. Using a single Ultra Low Dispersion lens element towards the front of the lens group corrects chromatic aberration throughout the entire zoom range, making your images look crisp and colorful with minimal color blur. The RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM lens can also accept both the RF1.4x and RF2x tele extenders giving you the effective maximum focal length of 560mm and 800mm respectively. With a control ring that allows for quick setting changes, including shutter speed and aperture, the RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM lens puts quality, convenience and control in your hands.

Especially noteworthy is the lenss close-up capabilities at the 400mm zoom setting at its minimum focus distance, at 400mm, you can fill the frame with a subject about the size of a credit card providing outstanding versatility and strikingly sharp images.

Control Ring for direct setting changesThe RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM lens incorporates a Control Ring on the lens barrel that can directly adjust numerous settings including shutter speed, aperture, ISO, exposure compensation and more. Located towards the front of the lens it effectively adds a third dial to EOS R and RP cameras, and a fourth dial to cameras such as EOS R5 and R6 cameras. With a tactile, easily distinguished surface and a clicking mechanism that provides tangible feedback for confident use while looking through the viewfinder, the control ring adds outstanding connection to any shooting scenario. For photographers and movie makers who would prefer a silent control ring, the clicking mechanism can be removed at a Canon Factory Service Center location for a fee.
Compatible with optional Canon Extenders RF1.4x^ and RF2x^^To help get you even closer to the subject, attach the compatible optional Canon RF extenders to the RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM and get the equivalent of 560mm focal length coverage with the Extender RF1.4x, or 800mm using the Extender RF2x. In fact, the RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM is the first non-L-series Canon lens with tele extender compatibility, helping transform the lens into an incredibly powerful telephoto combination, with relatively modest additional size and weight.
